The new Embraer E190-E2 received a type certificate from three major worldwide certification authorities simultaneously, the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – ANAC), the FAA (US Federal Aviation Administration) and the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).
Within 56 months from program launch, the E190-E2 recently has been certified for commercial service. The successful flight test program with four prototype aircraft included more than 2,000 flight hours, and about 45,000 test hours were conducted in laboratories. Embraer announced that the E190-E2 is the most environmentally friendly aircraft in its class regarding external noise and emissions. The E-Jets E2 family, succeeding the original E-Jet, was launched in 2013. “Having had the pleasure of launching the E-Jets E2 family back in 2013, it is very emotional for me to see the E190-E2 reach Type Certificate today, on schedule and on budget” said Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, Embraer President & CEO. The first airline who will enter commercial service with the new aircraft will be Widerøe Airlines, the largest regional airline in Scandinavia. Widerøe scheduled its E190-E2 inaugural flight on April 24 in Norway, between Bergen and Tromsø.
