Configuration Tool Suite for TTEthernet and AFDX®

This PC-based tool suite is designed to streamline your TTEthernet® and AFDX® network management and configuration processes. It comprises the TTETools Workbench, TTEPlan and TTEBuild , as well as additional data-loading and XML file post-processing utilities.

TTETools Workbench

TTE-Tools-WB Plan

The TTETools Workbench, based on the Eclipse IDE, is the user interface designed for the development of TTEthernet networks. It provides specialized editors for each design step, enabling users to model the network topology, configure single- and multi-channel network switches and end systems, and start the backend tools TTEPlan and TTEBuild to generate all device configuration output files. Additionally, the workbench can create reports for configuration validation and network bandwidth utilization. As a user, you can modify data in the TTETools Workbench using tree models and tables for easier handling of large configuration sets without the need to care about file syntax.

The input to TTEPlan is a network description XML file. In this file, the network architect specifies high-level communication requirements for the system. Examples of these communication requirements are message flows, the physical and logical network topology, schedule constraints, synchronization parameters, and Virtual Links (VLs), including their IDs, timing and frame sizes. From this input, the TTEPlan tool then automatically creates network schedule, communication routes and the related configuration records ready for further device-specific processing by TTEBuild.

TTEBuild

TTEBuild converts the XML-based network configuration files into device-specific binary configuration images as required by the TTESwitches and the TTEEnd Systems. The XML schemas used to describe these configuration files are publicly available and allow the highest level of flexibility when TTEBuild is integrated with third-party tools or customer-specific tool chains.

TTEBuild also supports all currently offered end systems and switches in TTTECH’s ARINC 664 part 7 (AFDX™) product line.

Data Loading

The TTETools configuration suite also includes the necessary software tools for loading binary configuration files to TTTECH’s and other compatible switches:

  • TT615A3-Loader: ARINC 615A compliant data loader
  • TTELoad: For loading configuration files to TTTech switches not supporting ARINC 615A

Key Benefits

  • GUI-assisted modeling of the network topology, including all devices, their physical and logical connections, as well as redundancy and real-time constraints, based on a single network description database
  • All configuration data in open XML format with open schemas for customized workflows, transparent auditing and flexible exchange with third-party tools
  • Scheduling and route planning capabilities
    • Automated schedule calculation for time-triggered traffic  (SAE AS6802) with flexible constraint-based optimizations
    • Configuration support for rate-constrained (ARINC 664 part 7) and best-effort (IEEE 802.3) traffic
    • Scheduling done at frame-level granularity
  • Use-case specific configuration options for key parameters
  • Design checks and verbose guidance in case of misconfiguration (errors, warnings)
  • Automation of build steps for generation of multiple configuration files

The TTETools Suite is available in two different variants: TTETools Starter with a limit of 100 virtual links (VLs), and TTETools Expert without any limitations concerning the number of VLs. Available as a separate product, the qualified TTEVerify tool can create the required verification evidence for the network configuration.
