Working and living in Germany

Moving to a different country is an exciting yet challenging venture in many ways. In order to facilitate your decision of moving to Germany, we have collected a few links to trustworthy resources that will give you a good first impression regarding what to expect when living in Germany – from the cost of living to social contributions and children’s education.

In Germany, taxes and social security contributions (health insurance, pension insurance, nursing insurance for disability and old age and unemployment insurance) are calculated based on the salary. These fees are automatically deducted from the gross salary (gross salary minus tax on wages minus social security contributions = net salary).

Employees receive a monthly salary 12 x per year.

In Germany, all employees need to have health insurance. You can choose from a number of insurance companies. Selecttheone that you feel offers the best service for you and apply online. Generally, the contributions are the same for all insurance companies, however, some funds demand additional fees, which you have to pay on top. Once you have chosen your health insurance fund, please notify us as soon as possible, so that we can inform our payroll accordingly.
